Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists believe that if an individual is deprived of occupation and important routines are disrupted because of illness, stress or other problems their health and well-being will suffer. (Occupation refers to personal care, domestic life, work, relationships, leisure and hobbies)
Occupational therapists assess how illness and psychological issues affect people’s abilities to carry out their occupations. Treatment is based on the individual’s needs and lifestyle.
Treatment may include teaching new skills (for example, problem solving and coping skills), improving existing skills or by identifying and adapting aspects of life and work that are too demanding in the current circumstances.
